Ooo-LaLa: Glitz & Glam at the Sorosis Building

Susan and Travis
January 2013
Sorosis Building, Lakeland, FL

We have been fortunate the past 12 months in hosting two vintage-inspired weddings at the lovely Sorosis Building in Lakeland. Susan Peace's January soiree was planned long distance. Shortly after booking with us, Susan moved to Virginia to be with her fiancĂ©, Travis. Because of all the internet resources at her fingertips, the ceremony and reception were everything Susan had imagined.

Her black, white, and silver pallet had a hint of "Gatsby" and a bit of Paris in its theming. Guest table centerpieces were acquired through an Orlando rental house. Their feathery, tall presence illuminated the main ballroom with soft LED lighting.

For her menu, Susan chose a combination of Latin and classic styled foods. We did a wine and cheese paring along side a carving station and French Onion Soup torched as guests stepped up to the buffet.

The outdoor ceremony was held in the brand new courtyard garden. Susan did some finishing touches to her gown in the small parlor area off the front entry. The bridal party entered from the walkway aligning Lake Morton.

Even though it was mid-January, the weather cooperated with lots of great picture-taking opportunities outdoors.

The small details encompassed Susan and Travis's reception: from a signable caricature portrait to her three-tiered wedding cake.

As dusk faded into night the lavish lustre of her centerpieces created a splendid atmosphere for the rest of the celebration.
