Green Makes A "Scene!"

Stacey and Andy
April 2013

By far, one of my most memorable experiences was working with this couple and the bride's decor-saavy mom, Susan, last spring. Held at the St. Pete Beach Community Center, this event held many challenges in matching the "clover" green color to napkins, chair ties, and overall room decor.

Clover has remained a popular bridesmaid dress color over the past seven years. Yet linen manufacturers and linen rental companies have ignored its potential. So when this was coupled with bright yellow, we accepted the challenge.

Mom, Susan, was very supportive in working with us to create a special look that appealed to Stacey's expectations. With both Stacey and Susan having specialty advertising backgrounds, customization and lots of color contrasts would be priorities.

Susan incorporated an amazing amount of features: a hand-painted wood card box, program basket, table card names of famous couples, yellow and green mint tin favors, and decorated mason jars for the stairs leading
to the second level.

Our serious planning together started during one of our client only open houses about four months before the wedding. Event designer, Bradley Dempsey, put together several guest table looks that included a pop of yellow in silk calla lily stems we had found on line for our in-house glass cylinder, surrounded by greenery and shells.

The only "clover"green colored napkin was a pintuck design from a local rental company. Still it did not match the color swatches of the ties and girls' gowns. We had suggested yellow chair ties, but it "just wasn't enough" of the clover.

Thus our decision to have these items custom made to match.

We added a touch of yellow to the chair ties with some small silk yellow rose stems we had inherited from another wedding. It worked!

Susan and Stacey were fine with our decision to use more yellow on other tables such as the bridal party table and buffet. We ordered a bolt of bright green organza to decorate the ceremony arbor and aisle chairs. The rest is history. It was a great collaboration of ideas from a talented mom and our great hard-to-find resources.

Here's more pictures from Stacey and Andy's celebration:

During the social hour, there were special features to keep the 140 guests occupied while formal pictures were being taken. This included an amazing  young electric guitarist, a photo booth and special martini drink at the bar.
