Meredith & Michael
Nov. 5, 2010
It's rare for a local Catholic church to rent out their activity hall for wedding receptions, even for parishioners. Meredith and Michael were fortunate to have a supportive family that was happy to help decorate and embellish the St. Patrick's Church Parish Center in South Tampa.
When we first visited the site, I have to say I was skeptical, to say the least. There were lots of bookcases, glass display cases, and a big open space that I wasn't sure could be transformed into an elegant setting for a wedding.
Armed with tons of our in-house fabrics, we were able to disguise the non-wedding elements. The family hung Chinese lanterns, covered poles, and did a bang-up job decorating the huge bar area with lighting and foliage.
The couple's burgundy, ivory and gold color scheme was a perfect fit for the hall. Once the 24 guest tables and chairs were covered and the lights turned down, it became a different atmosphere indeed.
The bride chose to keep everything neutral with pops of gold and burgundy in menu cards and various guest table centerpieces (some provided by a florist, a friend, and us). Our pre-set garden salads with their dark red tomatoes even added color to the ivory palette.
Congratulations to Meredith and Michael for this opportunity to help make their wedding day sparkle!
