Ultra Violet Is a Color for All Seasons

Ultra Violet may be the 2018 Color of the Year, but it has been a major part of many beautiful weddings the past several years. 

We are excited to share Lisa and Chris's summer wedding reception at the Tampa Garden Club which featured a spectrum of violet that ranged from eggplant to Victorian Lilac, and then Lavender with a hint of silver. 

Much of Lisa's inspiration came from support from her mom, Anna. She took Lisa's ideas and made them a reality through color scheme, fresh floral options, and the flow of the day.


Here's Lisa and Chris's wedding day in pictures.





Base color was eggplant/deep purple. Lisa liked our Mermaid Silver Runners which we utilized as accents for the sign in/place card, gift, buffet, and head tables.




We utilized our smoked purple glass vases to hold some of our in-house silk flowers and embellishments.



Inside the main ballroom, guest tables had alternating centerpieces, high and low.


Our Eiffel tower pieces held purple orchid stems furnished by Blooming Days Florist complimented by a shorter arrangement of our three varying sized glass cylinders with submerged and floating flower clusters. 

 


Purple rocks graced the bottoms of the cylinders and loose orchid heads accented our square mirrors.

 


Tablecloths were a simple white with a silver damask organza runner on top of a wide lavender one. Napkins were lavender and chair ties were deep purple. 



A traditional head table was covered in silver with the mermaid and lavender runners. Purple/lavender uplighting accented the walls.

Unexpected Job Relocation Poses a Challenge for Couple's Wedding

Sometimes life's opportunities become challenges - especially if your wedding has to be moved "up" due to an important job relocation out of the country. Annmarie and Joe had set their wedding date for early January at the Davis Islands Garden Club. Plans had been in the works for many months. Then in early summer, Annmarie let me know that she and Joe might be moving to Germany in October! 

With a stroke of luck, a Saturday date was open in MID- September. Then came the process of rescheduling vendors and speeding up the design process. Annmarie originally had her heart set on winter styling. She worked with my daughter, Christy, to refashion decor into a whimsical combination of lilac, eggplant, and platinum. 


Annmarie keep many of her original ideas including the incorporation of wine corks and bottles into tabletop decor. This ranged from guests signing corks instead of a book and the couple's collection of wine bottles which they sprayed lavender and silver for the guest table centerpieces.


We took care of decorating the garden club's waterfront gazebo installing a small chandelier over the unity candle table inside.


Although we contended with an afternoon shower, the resulting sunshine and rainbow created an unexpected photo opportunity for photographer Mike McCoy.

Annmarie's mom escorted her down the aisle. Eladio of DeLite Entertainment, provided ceremony music and sound, along with regular dj services and uplighting indoors.

During picture taking, guests enjoyed an open bar and hand-passed hors d'oeuvres
 on the covered patio.

Annmarie and Joe chose our "Taste Around" Menu with three distinctively different cuisines: A Tour of Italy; Latin Quarter; and Cracker Country. Our appetizers matched each of the stations.




The main event room was awash in lavender uplighting.  Carmen's Flowers provided fresh cut roses in varying shades along with baby's breath for the wine bottles. Two lavender runners lined the guest tables and eggplant chair ties provided contrast throughout the room.






Sweet Tweet Cakery provided the wedding cake.

Although there were three different food themes for the station buffet, Annmarie wanted to keep a consistent color scheme. Some of the items we featured were a "top your own" flatbread station, Marinated Mediterranean Vegetables, Whipped Potato Station, Chop Smoked Pork Station with three different bbq sauces, slaw and crunchy onions, and of course our popular Paella.


  

 


In being a DIY bride, Annmarie made a tulle skirt for the sweetheart table. 


Annmarie paid a special tribute to her brother who had unexpectedly passed. He was a popular bartender that even members of my staff recognized.
