There's no place like home for a wedding!

Kristy and Chris

I vividly remember the first time I did a site visit to Kristy and Chris' Pinellas Point home. They asked me to help them with their vision to hold their tropical-themed reception in their back yard. They had purchased an adjoining lot next door in anticipation of adding on to their house after the wedding.

The pool was lovely with a privacy fence surrounding all three sides. An existing thatched roof arbor also had lots of potential. But grass was sparse, building materials were strewn everywhere, and there was virtually no shrubs or plants anywhere!

I listened to Chris's plans that included pavers, sod installation, and more landscaping. It sounded like a plan, but a very ambitious one for a bride and groom with full time jobs - including that of being parents as well. Several months passed and the couple decided against holding the ceremony at a nearby church. They felt it made more sense to have everything at their house.

Everything came together the two weeks before the wedding. Every single improvement was in place and I was amazed what Chris and Kristy had accomplished.

I am so happy to share these pictures that represent a true labor of love.

Guests arrived from the far side of the house where the ceremony was set up facing the thatched roof tiki hut. We swagged the top with colored fabrics and lined the aisle with our white shepherd hooks and small lanterns. 100 guests attended the wedding.

The bride's sister created a floating centerpiece for the pool.

Guest tables were present at the other end of the back yard near the pool. Chris set up another thatched roof canopy to shade the band - The Caribbean Cowboys.

Ceremony chairs were placed around guest tables during the social hour which was held around the pool and inside a small Florida room that housed the bar. Our servers hand-passed an assortment of small hors d'oeuvres and the couple's signature drink, "Apple Pie Moonshine" was displayed on a special table that later became the dessert station.

Instead of traditional wedding cake, Kristy decided on layers of colorful macarons.

They chose to alternate peach and coral napkins on the guest tables. Instead of regular water glasses, they requested to use our in-house mason jars. A coral and navy set of runners lined the centers of each table along with our white carriage lanterns and simple vase of white and coral flowers.

After dark, the reception was well lit with uplighting and tiki torches. Kudos to Kristy and Chris on this beautiful undertaking that they can enjoy for years to come.
